Balestra on the top
Antonio Balestra (FRA) won the Belgian Open, the 11th stage of the 2016 European Footgolf Tour by two shots. David Aerts (BEL) came second after beating Simon Wetzel (NED) and Mark Anthony Woodward (USA) in a playoff for the silver medal.
Only three players reached par on Saturday, the first day of the Belgian Open. Antonio Balestra was the leader (2 under par), while Mark Anthony Woodward score was -1 and Joeri Jolling (BEL) played to par.
Balestra played plus 1 on Sunday on Golf Puyenbroeck, but it was enough to remain on the first place after the two days’ overall results. Balestra finished second in Switzerland and this gold medal means he is among the best players in the Tour.
David Aerts, Simon Wetzel and Mark Anthony Woodward all tied for second place, which meant they had to decide which two of them made the podium in a playoff. Aerts finished the 18th hole with the best score climbing to the second place of the tournament, while Wetzel secured the third place, and Woodward became the fourth among the 78 players.
