French winner in England
The latest grand slam event was held in England near Oxford. More than one hundred players have been played three rounds at Magnolia Park in the FIFG 500 UK Open, where Antonio Balestra was the best. The Frenchman won by only one kick.
After playing 54 holes, Antonio Balestra (FRA) finished by -15 last weekend, which was enough for his glory. Simon Wetzel (NED) and Marc Cowell (UK) tied on second place by -14. The playoff was not enough to decide, Wetzel was closer with the blind approach finally.
Dutch domination was among the seniors, where the trio of Wijers, Van Eekeres and Wilkes muscled their way to a clean sweep at Magnolia Park. A brilliant final round from Klaas Wijers gave him a three shot victory over Herman Van Eekeres with Michael Wilkes in third place.
Sophie Brown won the ladies category after an amazing comeback from Claire Williams forced a playoff. Both ladies tied after 54 holes after a final hole fightback from Williams, who was looking to repeat her victory from 2017. Brown was eventually successful after holing out from 10m on the final green.
The last stage of the European Footgolf Grand Slam is The Grand Final in Portugal.
